Awaken 2017, held July 24-27 in Little Rock, AR, is a unique gathering of musicians, dancers, visual artists, preachers, and all who seek to serve God’s people by designing and leading participatory worship experiences.
Inspired by the 60th anniversary of the Little Rock Nine and the forced desegregation of Central High School, Awaken 2017 will help us understand how we as worship designers and leaders must be attuned to the injustices that continue to exist in our world - and how worship shapes us all to claim our role as Christs partners in bringing Gods reign here on earth.
The event is presented by The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts, an organization that assists worship leaders in creating meaningful worship experiences that bring people into deeper relationships with God and each other. Founded to support musicians in The United Methodist Church, The Fellowship has grown to include worship artists, clergy, and laity involved in all aspects of worship from a variety of denominations and experiences.
